Lakeville Corner WI 2018-2019 Report | nbwi.ca

The Lakeville Corner Women’s Institute kicked off their year in November 2018 with their Annual Auction, a fun event, as it usually is.

December saw the group having their dinner out, returning to their Hall for a Christmas gift exchange and doing up the bags of goodies to be delivered to members of the community that are alone or shut-in. Also, a few go to some members of our community in nursing homes.

January and February, the Lakeville Corner WI is closed, resuming meetings in March.

From March to May, the group prepares for their June Yard, Bake Sale and BBQ.

The funds that the Lakeville Corner branch raises go toward the upkeep of the Hall but, just as important, we donated to the following:

  • SPCA Oromocto
  • Toast Program in Minto
  • the local War Memorial
  • the local Cemetery fund
  • the WI Home in Woodstock
  • any grads in the community, and
  • anyone in need in surrounding communities.

Members Judy and Angela attended an auction for Upper Gagetown, which they found fun and enjoyable. They also went to their Ladies Night which was great entertainment with fun prizes.

A few of the Lakeville Corner members attended the NBWI Provincial Convention in June,

Angela also attended a tea at the WI Home and saw the anniversary plaque being set by the yellow rosebush.

As last year’s fundraiser went so well, the Lakeville Corner returned to the Superstore in Oromocto this September to sell tickets on a gift card tree. The lucky winner will be drawn at their November 14th auction at their Hall.

To end this report, Lakeville Corner welcomed two new members this past year and are hoping to promote an info session to attract new and younger people to their group.
