This recipe for slow-roasted spareribs comes to us from the 1978 New Brunswick Women’s Institute Cook Book. As ever, if you try one of our recipes, let us know in the comments how it turns out!

Extra Good Spareribs |
  • 4 lbs pork spareribs
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 1 cup catsup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp dry mustard
  • 1 tsp paprika

Cut spareribs into serving pieces. Brown them in a frying pan over surface heat. Combine the remaining ingredients. Put ribs in baking dish or large casserole; pour sauce over ribs.

Cover and bake in moderate over 350 degrees for 1 3/4 hours. Spoon sauce over the ribs two or three times during baking.

Bake uncovered for additional 15 minutes.

Yield: 5 to 6 servings.
